Genevieve, a Sea Goddess
Go Back to the Teachers Page
Genevieve is tall slender underwater
faerie-like creature who, although
still quite young, is a leader
beneath the Enchanted Sea.

Her name means “White Wave”
and this describes both her
appearance and her personality very well.

She is strong, courageous,
compassionate and just a little bit wild.
She travels throughout her realm on
her sea chariot drawn by her
faithful seahorse.

She often moves at great speed just under the water’s surface, creating wondrous
white-capped waves that appear for no apparent reason when viewed from above.

Genevieve has an elaborately bejeweled headdress for state occasions but she is normally seen in a more demure pearl tiara that matches her pearl embellished silk dress in its simplicity.

Genevieve is a 14” inch tall cloth figure.  She stands alone on any smooth surface and has a youthful figure with bust, tiny waist, shapely hips and long slender legs.

In this class, the student will learn the needle sculpting techniques
to create a fine fully featured  face in cloth.  They will learn how
to create a bust line that can be as voluptuous as the student  wishes.
They will also create hands that will hold the reins (or any other
article) and legs that will support Genevieve, (and future dolls as well)
plus a body that can be posed, utilizing my  individual limb and body armature.

As always, there will be options for the student that will include
a more simple hand and foot pattern and head and bust
variations, as well as a large variety of ‘accessories’ to be tackled
after Genevieve has been created.
These will include her chariot, 15” seahorse (a choice of
construction and embellishment techniques is given) with harness
and bridle, a smaller simpler seahorse (5", 7" or 9"),some
anemones, a variety of fish and some beaded coral.

The pattern for her simple, understated travelling gown will be included but we will also discuss options for a more elaborate ‘formal’ creation.
Options for her headdress will also be covered in class.
